چکیده

In multi-beam directional networks, nodes are able to simultaneously transmit to all neighbors or receive from all neighbors. This spatial reuse allows for high throughputs, but in dense networks can cause significant interference. Topology control (i.e., selecting a subset of neighbors to communicate with) is vital to reduce the interference. Good topology control balances the number of links utilized to achieve fewer collisions while maintaining robust network connectivity. In this work, we discuss the underlying challenges to topology control in multi-beam direction networks. Two topology control algorithms are developed: a centralized algorithm that retains robust connectivity at the cost of reduced throughput, and a distributed algorithm that offers higher throughput but with fewer links in the network. The performance of these algorithms is demonstrated by simulation using real beam patterns from a seven-element uniform linear array.

Multi-beam Antenna-based Topology Control Algorithm in Ad Hoc Networks

Multi-beam antenna is drawing attention due to its power-saving and interference-reducing. A topology control algorithm K-DRNG based on multi-beam antenna in heterogeneous wireless Ad Hoc network is proposed. The algorithm is mainly composed of three phases. In the stage of information collection, each node collects information of neighborhood by adjusting the transmitting power and controlling...

Distributed and Cooperative Compressive Sensing Recovery Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks with Bi-directional Incremental Topology

Recently, the problem of compressive sensing (CS) has attracted lots of attention in the area of signal processing. So, much of the research in this field is being carried out in this issue. One of the applications where CS could be used is wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The structure of WSNs consists of many low power wireless sensors. This requires that any improved algorithm for this appli...

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access for mmWave Drones with Multi-Antenna Transmission

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be deployed as aerial base stations (BSs) for rapid establishment of communication networks during temporary events and after disasters. Since UAV-BSs are low power nodes, achieving high spectral and energy efficiency are of paramount importance. In this paper, we introduce non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission for millimeter-wave (mmWave) drones...

Control Frame Shaping in Power Controlled and Directional MAC Protocols?

This paper discusses the ideal shapes of control frames (i.e., RTS/CTS frames) in the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer for efficient power control and directional beam forming in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Control frames are used to coordinate concurrent transmissions for collision avoidance. Most existing schemes are either overly conservative (i.e., using omnidirectional control frames without pow...

Power-efficient topology control for static wireless networks with switched beam directional antennas

Topology control problems are associated with assignment of power levels to nodes of a wireless network so that the resulting graph topology satisfies certain properties. In this paper we consider the problem of power-efficient topology control with switched beam directional antennas taking into account their non-uniform radiation pattern within the beamwidth. Previous work in the area have all...
